South Korea’s top star CHOI JI WOO joined the entertainment agency giant YG.
CHOI JI WOO, who recently signed the contract with YG, became part of YG Family that includes other actors like CHA SEUNG WON, IM YE JIN, JANG HYUN SUNG, JEONG HYE YOUNG, KU HYE SUN and YOO IN NA. YG is also home to artists like PSY, BIGBANG, 2NE1 and EPIK HIGH.
The contract will act as a win-win deal for both YG and CHOI JI WOO, the actor who brought a Korean Wave sensation in Japan through the mega-hit dramas like “Winter Sonata” and “Stairways to Heaven.”
It is an opportunity for CHOI to make a leap forward as an actor with the support of YG, through the agency’s brand power, and systematic and globalized management. Joining YG means once again positioning herself as the queen of Korean Wave, as she actively carried out her work in Asia through modeling for a Japanese tourism company HIS, Japanese Lotte, and starring in a Chinese drama “City of Lovers.”
Japan and China are still enthusiastically inviting CHOI to feature in their dramas and ads, and she will be able to do this with more ease as YG conducts global management including localization of the agency, establishing YG ASIA in Hong Kong and YG JAPAN.
YG is continuing its momentum on actor management, as the agency also recently signed a contract with another top star CHA SEUNG WON.
YG commented, “Signing contracts with top Korean Wave stars like CHOI JI WOO, following CHA SEUNG WON, JANG HYUN SUNG, and IM YE JIN, we will be able to strengthen the actor management field.”
CHOI is indeed one of the top South Korean stars, who is equipped with everything from impressive acting, attractive appearance and very unique charms.
While she is loved in all genres including dramas and ads, her acting in SBS’s “The Suspicious Housewife” as the mysterious housewife Park Bok Nyo won her high praises for breaking away from a naïve and pure character CHOI usually plays.
The big star is known for her wide range of acting, from the mega-hit “Winter Sonata (2002)”, “Beautiful Days (2001),” and “Stairways to Heaven (2003)” to “Everybody Has Secrets (2004)” and “Actresses (2009).”
In 2012 she received an Asia Star Award in the 7th Asian Model Awards, while Top Popularity Award at the World Tourism Cities Forum in 2010, and a Hallyu Special Award at the 41st Baeksang Arts Awards, positioning herself
