나는 하나님과 마주앉아 이야기하는 꿈을 꾸었답니다.


<< "So you would like to interview me?" God asked.
<< "그래, 나와 얘기를 나누고 싶은 게로구나?"
하나님께서 물으셨습니다.


"If you have the time" I said.
"하나님 시간이 괜찮으시다면요^^*"
<< 하고 말씀드렸더니,


<< God smiled, "My time is eternity"
그분께선 "나의 시간은 영원하단다." <<
하시며 따뜻하게 웃어주셨지요.


<< "What questions do you have in mind for me?"
"나에게 묻고 싶은게 뭐니?"


"What surprises you most about humankind?..."
"저희를 지켜보시며 어떤 점에 가장 놀라시나요?..."


God answered...
그분께서 말씀하시길...


"That they get bored with childhood.
They rush to grow up and then long to be children again."
"어렸을 땐, 그 시절을 싫증내면서 빨리 어른이 되었으면...하다가,
막상 어른이 되면, 그 때를 그리워 하는 것을 나는 이해할 수가 없구나."


<< "That they lose their health to make money and
then lose their money to restore their health."
"그 밖에도 돈을 벌기 위해 건강은 뒷전으로 미루다가
나중에서야 그 돈으로 건강을 되찾으려 하는 것."


<< "That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future."
"현재를 잊고 미래만을 걱정하다가
현재 미래 어느 곳에도 적응하지 못하는 것도 그렇고."


<< "That they live as if they will never die,
and die as if they had never lived."
"죽음은 전혀 생각지도 않으며 살다가,
죽을 땐 언제 살았냐는 듯이 떠나는 것도 말이다."


<< God's hand took mine and we were silent for awhile.
하나님께선 제 손을 꼭 잡고 잠시 아무 말씀도 하지 않으셨습니다.


<< And then I asked.
제가 곧 부탁 드렸습니다.


<< "As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons
you want your children to learn?"
"부모님으로서,하나님의 자녀들이 깨달아야 할
<< 삶의 교훈을 말씀해주세요."


<< God replied with a smile.
그 분은 웃으시며 대답해 주셨어요.


<< "To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
What they can do is let themselves be loved."
"다른 사람이 너희를 사랑하게 만들 수는 없단다.
하지만 너희가 그들을 사랑할 수는 있지."


<< "To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others."
"다른 사람을 남과 비교하지 말거라."


<< "To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."
"부자란 가진것이 많은 사람이 아니라
필요한 것이 적은 사람이라는 것도 알았으면 한다."


<< "To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love,
and it takes many years to heal them."
"우리는 아주 잠깐 사이에 사랑하는 사람에게 상처를 주곤 하지.
하지만 그 사람의 상처가 치유되는데는 참으로 오랜 시간이 걸린단다."


<< "To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness."
"어떤 상황에서든 용서할 수 있는 힘을 얻기 위해 연습을 해두렴."


"To learn that there are persons who love them! << dearly,
but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings."
"너희를 끔직히 사랑하는 사람들이 그 마음을 겉으로 표현하기는
그다지 쉬운 일이 아니라는 것도 알아둬야 하지."


<< "To learn that two people can look at the same thing
and see it differently."
"너희가 똑같은 것을 바라볼 때도 그것에 대한 생각은
서로 다를 수 있다는 것을 염두에 두어야 한다."


<< "To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others.
But that they must forgive themselves."
"남을 용서한 것에 만족할 것이 아니라 스스로를 용서할 줄 알아야 하고"


<< "And to learn that I am here always."
"그리고.....
내가 항상 여기 네 곁에 있다는 것을 알아줬음 좋겠구나!"
