최지우씨가 나와서... 그나저나 이장수님이 만든 드라마도 의외로 마니아층이 두터운가 봅니다.^^
일본 NHK BS2에서 겨울연가 후속으로 아름다운 날들을 방영한다는 소식을 들었습니다. 저는 이 드라마를 보지 못했지만 외국인들에게 상당히 호평받고 있군요...아래 평 중에서 한 사람이 말하고 있듯이 영화처럼 드라마 DVD 제작할 때도 영어 자막을 넣는다면 더 많은 한국 드라마 팬을 확보할 수 있을텐데 왜 그렇게 하지 않는지 모르겠네요...한국에서 인기가 높은 드라마는 미국을 포함한 영어권 국가에서도 충분히 가능성이 있다고 보는데요...사실 영화 한편보다 잘 만든 드라마 한편이 10배이상 더 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다 (방영 시간이 10배이므로)... 최근 겨울연가가 일본에서 붐을 일으키고 있는 것을 보십시오....드라마 쪽에 관계하는 분들이 이 글을 보시면 좀 참조하셨으면 좋겠네요...

아름다운 드라마
작년 추수감사절 휴가 때 나는 홍콩으로 여행을 갔다가 TV에서 우연히 "아름다운 날들"의 1회분을 보고 그 즉시 빠져 버렸다. 이병헌의 얼굴을 보지 않고 민철의 의상과 머리 스타일만 보면 Meet Joe Black이라는 영화에 나온 브래드 피트가 떠올랐다. 내가 홍콩에 머무른 그 주에 이 드라마의 DVD가 출시된 것은 나에게는 행운이었다. 미국으로 돌아와서 그 DVD를 개봉한 순간 부터 나는 이 드라마를 수도 없이 다시 보았다. 배우들의 연기는 흠잡을 데 없었다. 연수와 민철 사이의 사랑은 충격적이면서도 너무나 매혹적이었다. 이 두 사람의 관계는 모든 면에서 내 마음에 쏙 들었다. 이 두사람은 공통점이 많을 뿐 아니라 한 사람의 강점이 다른 사람의 약점을 잘 보완하고 있다. 연수는 민철에게 헌신적이며 민철도 역시 그녀에 대한 사랑을 의식적으로는 부정하지만 연수에게 충실했다. 민철의 감정을 표현하는 이병헌의 연기는 너무나 섬세해서 시청자는 민철의 내면 세계를 모두 이해할 수 있었다. 그가 느끼는 고통, 행복, 열정, 그리고 욕구가 모두 그의 얼굴에 씌여 있었기 때문이다. 류시원(선재), 이정현 (세나), 이유진 (나래), 신민아 (민지) 등 다른 출연자들도 모두 아름다운 날들을 매혹적인 드라마로 만드는데 크게 기여했다. 이 중에서도 특히 류시원은 너무나 착하고 신사적이어서 슬픔이나 증오를 겉으로 드러내지 않았다.
실제로 내 친구 중에 백혈병에 걸렸다가 골수 이식 수술을 받아서 살아난 친구가 있었다. 그 친구는 이 드라마에서 묘사한 것 보다 더 오래동안 고통스러운 시간을 보내야 했다. 나는 완벽한 극본을 쓴 저자에게 찬사를 보내고 싶다. 브라보! 연기도 매우 뛰어났다. 특히 인상적인 장면은 후반부에 민철이 연수를 수술실로 데리고 갈 때였다. 전반부의 진행 속도는 빨랐지만 끝부분에서는 약간 질질 끈 면도 없지는 않았다. 내 영혼은 잊을 수 없는 아름다운 음악에 취했고 내 가슴은 열정적인 가수의 목소리에 매혹되었다. (중략) 어쨌든 아름다운 날들은 나이와 상관없이 모든 사람들이 즐길 수 있는 아름다운 이야기이다.

Beautiful Drama
I went to Hong Kong for vacation last Thanksgiving and saw one episode of Beautiful Days (BD) on TV and I was immediately smitten by it. At a glance, without looking at Lee Byung Hun's face, Minchul's attire and hairdo reminded me of Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black. I was lucky that the DVD set just came out the week while I was in HK. Since I opened the set after I came back to the States, I have watched the series over and over again for countless of times. The actors were flawless in their performance. The love between Yeon-soo and Minchul is both electrifying and enticing. The two are truly "my match in every way." They have so much in common and one's strength complements the other's weakness. Not only is Yeon-soo devoted to Minchul, Minchul has also been faithful to Yeon-soo although he consciously denies his love for her. Lee Byung Hun's projection of Minchul's feelings was so refined that the audience can identify with every bit of Minchul's inner world. His pain, his happiness, his passion, and his pursuits were written all over his face. Ryu Si-won (San-jae), Lee Jung-hyun (Saena), Lee Yu-jin (Narae), and Shin Min-ah (Minji) all did a wonderful job in making BD an endearing series. If I have to pick on one person, I would have to say that Ryu is too kind and gentle for him to show any bitterness and hatred.
I actually had a girl friend who went through bone marrow transplant and survived leukemia. The process actually took longer and more painful than the TV series had time for it. I want to give credit to the scriptwriter(s) for the immaculate script. Bravo! Screenplay was so very well executed, especially towards the end, when Minchul was seeing Yeon-soo to the surgery room. Acting performance was very natural and emotionally packed without any over-acting. The pace for the first half was great. It sort of slowed down and dragged a little bit at the end. Love scenes should be taken a little bit faster (both in the inn by the sea and the honeymoon suite.) My soul was mesmerized by the hauntingly beautiful music and my heart was carried away by the passionate vocal performance. Lee Byung Hun has a song (For the Last Love) in the OST. He actually sings better than he did in the honeymoon suite scene. His voice projection is very bright and clear, better than Ryu Si-won. It's a pity that they did not use the song in the series. Lee Jung-hyun has another song, "Dream," in the OST. It's more sensible to have a different song for Saena's second debut to signal a change in the artist's persona. After confronting her wild desires, fear, and guilt during the course of the story, Saena has arrived to the stage of peace and love, finding a matured acceptance in her soul. Jung-hyun performed "Dream" so passionately and the song has a more sophisticated melody than Heaven. Besides, it was Saena's dream to become a pop singer. "Dream" would have been a gratifying finale to the series. There are minor details that were overlooked by the production staff, such as the "Tower Best" sign from Tower Records (rather than Victory Records) was left in one of the kiosks and got onto the film. Nevertheless, BD is a beautiful story for all ages.

위대한 드라마!
"아름다운 날들"은 아름다운 드라마이다. 마음이 따뜻해지고 감동적이고 낭만적이며, 결코 놓쳐서는 안될 드라마이다. 나는 다른 한국 배우들에 비해서 이병헌이 잘생겼다고 생각한 적이 없었으나, 이 드라마를 보고 깜짝 놀랐다. 이 드라마 속에서 이병헌은 매우 매력적일 뿐 아니라 신비스럽고 근사한 남자이다. 그의 연기는 너무나 사실적이고 자연스러워서 모든 다른 배우들을 능가했다. 특히 그의 눈빛은 감정을 잘 표현했다. 그가 연기한 "민철"은 매우 인상적이었다. 이병헌은 최지우와 잘 어울렸다. 최지우는 차분하고 부드러우며 연약해 보이지만 이병헌을 헌신적으로 사랑했다. 그녀의 눈물은 너무나 진실하고 자연스러웠으며, 눈물을 흘리는 장면은 모두 적절했다 (특히 이병헌이 그녀를 쫓아가서 엘리베이터를 타는 장면). 다른 모든 배우들도 맡은 역을 잘 소화했다. 이 드라마는 내가 지금까지 본 한국 드라마 중에 최고이다. 나는 이병헌과 최지우가 아름다운 날들 만큼 아름답게 끝나는 드라마에 또 한번 출연해 주기를 기대한다. 앞으로도 한국의 드라마가 우리를 실망시키지 않기를 바란다. 나는 이처럼 좋은 작품이 또 나오기를 간절히 기다릴 것이다. 훌륭한 드라마! 뛰어난 배우! 멋진 각본! 탁월한 감독에게 박수를!

Great movie !
Not just a "Beautiful Days" but a beautiful movie. A warmth, touching, romancing drama should not be missed. I had never thought Lee Byung Hun was handsome at all compare to many other Korean actor. It surprises me this time, he is not only charming, mysterious and cool in this show, his acting skills was so real and natural that surpasses other male actors. Especially his eyes express well with his feelings. Quite impressed with his role as "Mingzhe". Indeed, he pair off perfectly well with Choi Ji Woo, a demure, gentle and rather fragile lady who was so devoted of her love for him. Her tears are so real and natural that was captivated at the right time.(The part when LBH chase after her to the lift) All artists did well in their role. It was the best korean drama that I had watched so far. I am looking forward to their(Lee Byung Hun & Choi Ji Woo)next drama, with a beautiful ending just as "Beautiful Days". I hope the korean production won't disappoint us. We will eagerly look forward to it. Great show! Great artists! Great Script! Great Director! Keep it up!

꼭 봐야할 드라마
아름다운 날들은 내가 최초로 본 한국 드라마였다. 이 드라마를 보고 나는 문자그대로 이병헌과 최지우, 그리고 한국 드라마에 완전히 빠져 버렸다. 이 드라마를 몇번씩이나 다시 보았지만 볼 때마다 여전히 재미있다. <중략> 감독, 카메라 촬영, 각본, 편집, 더빙 등 모든 것이 훌륭했다. 거의 결점을 찾을 수가 없을 정도이다. 한국말을 한마디도 모르지만 나는 OST CD를 사서 자동차, 침실, 노트북 등에서 항상 들었었다. 그후에도 이병헌과 최지우가 나온 드라마 CD/DVD를 모으기 시작했고 많은 한국 드라마를 봤지만 아직까지 아름다운 날들이 최고이다. 런던에 있는 내 딸과 딸의 친구들에게도 이 드라마 CD를 보내 줬는데 이들도 모두 이 드라마를 좋아했다. 하지만 SBS나 제작자들은 듀얼 사운드(광동어와 한국어)와 영어자막이 있는 DVD를 만들어 주길 부탁한다! 아름다운 날들을 본 다음부터 한국 드라마에 대한 나의 존경심은 크게 높아졌다. 한국의 높은 드라마 제작 수준과 전문성은 내게는 새로운 발견이었다. 나는 이제 한국 제품을 믿고 살 뿐 아니라 친구들에게도 자신있게 추천하고 있다. 다음번에는 한국을 한번 가보고 싶다. 하나의 훌륭한 한국 드라마가 어떤 일을 할 수 있는 놀랍지 않은가? 내게 이렇게 큰 즐거움을 준 모든 사람들에게 감사하고 싶다.

Must watch Beautiful Days
Yes, I agree totally with every review written before my review. BEAUTIFUL DAYS was my 1st Korean drama that I watched, after which I was literally 'hooked' on LEE BYUNG HUN, CHOI JI WOO and Korean Dramas. Watched it so many times and am still enjoying it again and again. LBH and CJW are very talented, professional and a fantastic screen couple together. They bring out the story so beautifully. Hope to see them together (happy ending please)in another production. Excellent acting from everyone else. It was so entertaining to watch the brother, LBH's sister, CJW's sister, the mother, the father,the good friend, everyone, ... Great and creative directors, camera shoots, script writters, editing, dubbing... Excellent music scores and choice of music played at the right moment contributed to the excitment and mood for the scenes. Very high level of professinalisim in every area. I cant find any significant fault with the production. Cant understand a word of Korean but I also bought the music CD and MTV version. Played them in my car, bedroom, on my notebook,... I simply enjoyed them. Have started to collect CD/DVD's of LBH and CJW but BEAUTIFUL DAYS is still the best of all other Korean dramas that I have watched. Sent copies to my daughter and her friends in London to watch and they too got 'hocked'. Oh! No! I am turning into a die-hard Korean fan. By the way, could SBS or someone please, please produce an excellent DVD version with dual sound (Cantonese and Korean) and English subtitles. My respect of all Korean products have scored as a result of watching BEAUTIFUL DAYS. The high standard and high level of profesionalism that I discovered was an eye-opener for me. I now confidently buy and recommend Korean products to my friends. Next I want to visit Korea. Just see what one excellent Korean Drama can achieve. Thank you to all for providing so much entertainment joy.
